Celtic and Irish music are both genres of music that have originated in Western Europe. Both genres encompass an array of traditional music that share many commonalities. The most important instrument in both Irish and Celtic music is the fiddle. Irish music has been looked to by those in other countries wishing to return to their Irish/Celtic roots. Initially Celtic music originated in the Isle of Man, Wales, Cornwall, Brittany, Northumbria, Galicia, Cantabria and Asturias, and even northern Portugal.
